Welcome

First formed in 1797 by such Long Island patriots as Richard and John Floyd, Solomon and Jacob Smith, Charles Wheeler and Moses Blachly, under a charter granted by New York Grandmaster and Signer of the Declaration of Independence, Chancellor Robert R. Livingston, Suffolk Lodge No. 60 has been a leader in New York Freemasonry for 210 years, offering good fellowship, community service, charity, education, special events and more to generations upon generations of local residents and Freemasons. Housed since 1912 at our Masonic Temple at 312 Main Street in Port Jefferson, New York, the Brothers of Suffolk Lodge No. 60 have contributed to Suffolk County culture in every walk of life, by taking active roles in the towns and villages, donating to worthwhile causes, providing a standard of integrity in conduct and character, and maintaining a safe haven against apathy and greed, which has served as a role model for Suffolk County since the United States began.

Embodying all that is good and true in the hearts and minds of men, we welcome you to join us here at our website, or in person at our Masonic Temple; at one of our upcoming meetings if you are a Brother already, or, if you are not, at one of our public events; to taste for yourself the true spirit of American Freemasonry, and connect with the living proof of the principles that founded our great nation: principles that still live and breathe in the bodies and souls of our membership.

Many ask: "What is Masonry? Why do they keep such secrets? What's so special about this ancient institution?" Here you will find the good and honest answer; a mystery only to those who refuse to look: Freemasonry is an elite organization dedicated to the most challenging task of all: the improvement of the human character and condition. Only those who sense in themselves a need to oust immorality with integrity, and apathy with action; only those who possess the courage and grace borne of higher principles are admitted into our sacred craft as Brethren. Only those who seek to serve a higher cause are serviceable to the Great Architect of the Universe, and fitting instruments for the execution of His designs. Such are the men we seek, and we ask no other qualification.

From whatever race you hail; whatever faith you profess; whatever social class, nation, or background you arise, you will find a home in Freemasonry if you are committed to the greater good: honor, justice, charity, diligence, wisdom and truth; those rare and precious well-springs that run the blood of man divine. Embrace these, and you embrace us. In turn, we will embrace you. "Ask, and ye shall receive. Seek, and ye shall find. Knock, and the door will be opened unto you."

Excelsior!
